lobal Education Center for Engineers aims
to provide educational opportunities

not only for computer engineering/science undergraduate majors
but also for non-computer science majors by creating new online courses
for advanced education in AI and sharing educational materials.

Project Background

  • To keep pace with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it is necessary to focus on creative innovation, rather than just pursuing the achievements of other countries. And for this, fostering creative talent in human resource is a key factor. In particular, artificial intelligence (AI) has become the core software of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and as a result, the demand for the education in AI is increasing rapidly. However, keeping up with the demand has limited the number of students who can take or audit major courses at the university due the limitations of a classroom and other capacities.
  • The issue with the student capacity restraint for major courses has exacerbated. Although new online courses for AI are available in MOOC or OCW platforms, the courses offered are beginner-level and introductory, signifying a lack of online courses for advanced learners and computer-majors

Project Plan

How to Proceed
  • A professor suggests new content to add to or replace for online courses and consults with a video producer. When the content is confirmed, the professor or T/A in charge of course development can add it to the existing video or request that the video producer inserts it to create new content.
Roles of Participants
  • Lecturing professor: Developing a teaching plan, providing course material, shooting new videos with updates, reviewing the videos, selecting a teaching assistant (TA) for the project, reviewing copyright issues, etc.
  • TA for course materials/hands-on materials (in lab): Consulting with a TA who assists shooting for online courses, editing/providing course materials/hands-on materials.
  • TA for shooting and editing: Having consultation with a laboratory TA to assist in shooting, editing after discussion with professors and other TAs. For hands-on classes, the TA is responsible for recording student’s presentations for final results.
  • TA for creating images/tables for slideshow: Discussing with professors and TAs in charge of hands-on materials and course materials to assist in creating images/tables for slideshows in Power Point.
